Hylaform Injections

What are they?
Hylaform is a derivative of a natural substance, called hyaluronan, which is found throughout the human body. A function of hyaluronan is to help keep the skin moist and elastic. Hylaform gel helps to reduce your natural hyaluronan, which is gradually lost from the skin over time.

Who will benefit from Hylaform injections?
Any person with all sorts of facial conditions, like smile lines, frown lines and deep facial furrows.

What will the evaluation involve?
During your evaluation by one of the physicians at the Facial Surgery Center, a detailed history will be taken, your skin will be examined thoroughly and your skin goals will be discussed. After that, you and your physician will talk about your specific treatment plan. Treatment is given through a few simple injections under the surface of the skin, to help “fill out” and smooth away lines or wrinkles, acne scars or other facial lines. You see the improvements immediately.

What will the treatment involve?
A local anesthetic is used to numb the area. The physician will give you a series of small injections with a very fine needle along the lines that you are having treated. The procedure usually takes 15 minutes to ˝ hour and no recovery time is needed. You will be able to return to work in the same day without embarrassment.

How often will I have to be treated?
Everyone’s skin is different, so the timing of any new treatment varies from person to person. Also you may wish to combine Hylaform gel with other treatments, so talk to your physician to plan your own personal treatment.

Is it expensive?
After patients see the difference that Hylaform gel makes with a single appointment, they realize how cost effective it could be. If you decide to return for more treatment, your physician can develop a sensible budget plan.
